Shake & Stir Vintage Music Festival returns to Fisherman’s Walk in Southbourne for a special two-day celebration of vintage music, dance, military heritage and community spirit.

The popular festival will take place as the Shake & Stir Vintage Armed Forces Weekender, combining the event’s much-loved vintage atmosphere with a renewed focus on recognising serving personnel, veterans and the stories that connect the local community with the Armed Forces.

Visitors can enjoy music inspired by the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, alongside dance displays, historical exhibitions, family entertainment and opportunities to learn more about local and regional military history. The event is officially approved as part of the national Armed Forces Day programme.

Visitors can expect:

• Live vintage music inspired by the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
• Swing, big band, rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly performances.
• Lindy Hop, jive and swing dance displays and workshops.
• Opportunities for visitors to join in with the dancing.
• An Armed Forces parade and commemorative moments.
• Representatives from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.
• Military vehicles, displays and heritage exhibitions.
• A History Hub featuring photographs, artefacts and stories of service.
• Information about the contribution of the Indian Army, presented with the BCP Indian Community.
• Veterans’ organisations, charities and community groups.
• Family-friendly entertainment and activities.
• Vintage, artisan, food and drink traders.
• A community-focused weekend in the heart of Southbourne.
• An official after-party at The Commodore Hotel on Saturday evening.
